After over 10 years of high level Trials competition,
Wayne decided to have a change of direction. Always interested
in the Enduro scene and having watched several trials
friends make the switch, it was all systems go. An amazing 2nd place in the
British Championship in this class in his first year
and his selection for the Great Britain Team indicated
his status as one of the UK's most promising Enduro
talents. The subsequent achievement in the International
Six Day Enduro in Portugal campaigning the Union Jack
and winning his first ever Gold Medal confirmed the
same.
For 2000 Wayne switched to the highly
competitive 250cc class - the blue riband of National
and International level. Only off the podium once this
year a creditable 4th place was (separated from 2nd
by only 3 points) gained and once again he was selected
for the Trophy Team for the Six Day event to be held
in Granada, Southern Spain and once again achieved a
placing credited with another gold meda aboard his Gas Gas EC300.
A successful 2001 (despite many cancelled
events due to the Foot and Mouth crisis) a consistent
Braybrook posted some excellent results within the popular
Fast Eddy Race Series during 2001 and his selection
for the British Trophy Team for the International Six
Day Enduro ( held in the Dordogne Region of France for
2001) was once again confirmed. A 3rd Gold Medal in
3 years his reward and confirmation of his status as
a truly talented Enduro Rider.
For 2002 , Wayne turned to 4 stroke machinery ready for a full assault on the
British
Championship Enduro series and the "Cross Country"
style 3 Hour
Endurance Races.
Having had a successful 2002 season including taking overall victory at the Natterjack final round of the British Enduro Championship, Wayne credited himself with his 2nd British Title.
2003, started well with a joint second
place at the opening Breckland Enduro, this time riding
a 250 2 stroke, the stage was set, however a high
speed crash at the opening day of the second round,
resulted in immediate surgery on a broken right radius
and ulna, the recovery from the same forced Wayne to
sit out the remainder of the year in his attempt to
be fit for what is surely one of his favorite end of
season events, the Weston beach race in late October.
2004 – and a return to a 4 stroke Wayne debuted the new CRF250. Wayne again achieved
exactly as Honda had wished and won the ACU British
championship once again on a new model. 2004 250/4stroke
British Champion. Add to this yet another Gold medal
(bringing the tally to 5 out of 5) in the ISDE in Poland
and the year end sign-off of 5th at Weston Beach Race
as well as 3rd overall at Moto 1 (a competition designed
to find the best “all round” motorcyclist from every
discipline), made 2004 extremely satisfying.
Constantly asked for coaching and training,
Wayne saw a gap in 2004 the market which he felt could
be beneficial to both himself and his sponsors on a
mutual basis.
From this seed, and after months of
preparation, the Braybrook off road enduro experience
was born, a successful project, assisted by the continued
support of Wayne’s sponsors. The same
was extremely well supported last year and is already
enjoying a surge of bookings for the summer months.
A respected name, a successful international
and championship status rider and not forgetting an
ACU approved Enduro Coach.
